Oh Happy Day!

If you have been following my blog for a little while you would know that I am totally obsessed with tapestry. I talked about it here.  Honestly though, I talk about it all the time.

I have been looking for that special piece...you know, the one.   It has just the right colors, theme and size.  It is very much like finding a good man, hard to do but when you do, it is pure magic!

Well, here is my baby.  Found it!  Oh happy day!

It took me many months of searching which goes to prove that diligence is always rewarded at the end of the day.  I will be using this as a focal point in my bedroom.  Yay me!

Next up is a chenille spread in a beautiful shade of light teal/Seafoam green.  Am siked, I will post it here when I find it. Fingers crossed.

Have a beautiful weekend lovelies!

Everything's Coming Up Roses

I love romance and though it may be a little cliche, to me, nothing says romance better than red roses.  I am getting ready to redecorate my bedroom and I fell in love with red rose pieces all over again. It is amazing how a rose here or there can change the feeling of a room. But what makes the red rose so sexy......why are they so intoxicating to the senses?  Well, as I have an inquiring mind, I did a little digging.  This is what I found.

The Red Rose not only carries more meaning than many other color roses, it is also one of the most universal of all symbols. The long history of the red rose makes it very significant. From being represented in countless works of Art to classical paintings, poetry, music and media the rose has endured. Not only throughout history but across many cultures and religions as well. The mystique of the red rose has been a source of immeasurable inspiration for many throughout the ages. However, it is as the symbol for love that the red rose is most commonly recognized.

The modern red rose we are now familiar with was introduced to Europe from China in the 1800's. The meanings associated with them however, can be traced back many centuries, even to some of the earliest societies.  In Greek and Roman mythology the red rose was closely tied to the goddess of love. Many early cultures used red roses to decorate marriage ceremonies and they were often a part of traditional wedding attire. Through this practice, the red rose became known as a symbol for love and fidelity. As the tradition of exchanging roses and other flowers as gifts of affection came into prevalence, the red rose naturally became the flower of choice for sending the strongest message of love. This is a tradition that has endured to the present day.

Now, who am I to mess with that.......I just can't wait to add some of these beautiful flowers to my decor.  Long live the rose!

Sensational Boudoirs

I've always had a soft spot for bedrooms....nah, nothing weird, kinky or crazy.  The Bedroom just happens to be my favorite room to decorate or admire.  It's such an intimate space.

Think about it,
. It's where we rest and renew ourselves
. Where we go to escape from stress or have some quiet time
. The place we tuck our precious babies in at bedtime
. And for us married folks, its where the magic happens that made those babies
. And last but not least, it's where us ladies keep our closet!  Need I say more...

Bedrooms are the one place you can let the romantic in you roam free.  Whether you are married or single you can create a space that is, inviting, relaxing, and tailor made to suit your taste, whatever it is.  After all, your boudoir is all about you!

Here are some beautiful bedrooms that really inspired me, I hope they inspire you too.

J-Lo's Fabulous New Pad

Veranda magazine did a feature on Jennifer Lopez's new California home and it is absolutely gorgeous.  Her designer, Michelle Workman really knocked it out of the park with this.

Designer Michelle Workman says, “There are all these tones of gray, and we played with that—using a bit more of a gray-taupe here, a bit more of a gray-blue there. It’s almost like a black-and-white film from the forties.”

Shut the front door!!!  How beautiful is this!

“Jennifer wanted to go modern and streamlined but retain the sophistication and stylishness,” says Workman. She didn’t want to be locked into a classically French look.

Workman had already almost finished decorating the house in a château-inspired style when J-L0 changed her mind about the original design. She decided to go in another direction.  In less than three months the designer came up with a whole new design concept.   Unbelievable.

I love the color in this bedroom, so elegant and serene.

This Headboard is by Williams Sonoma Home.

Blending different influences and periods is tricky to do but Michelle Workman nailed it.  It has both vintage and French elements while being modern, sophisticated and luxurious.  ......And its not stuffy!  Am in love.
