Yes, long nails are beautiful but short nail are fabulous too!

The Braid-ey Bunch - 10 Fashion Forward Summer Hairstyles

Whenever I find a new hairstyle that I like, I save it.  Well, actually I file it.  Yup, I have a file on my desktop labeled "Hair inspiration" and it is chuck full of these awesome hairdos. How's that for organized.

Well, this evening I just happened to be going through that folder and realized, I have to share this with my bloggie pals. This is way too much hotness to keep all to myself......so here I am, sharing.

Most of these are braided hairstyles but what I like most about them is their versatility and how easy some of them are to do.  Anytime you can get your hair styled in less than ten minutes is definitely a win in my opinion. And there is nothing more attractive than a lady who looks pulled together/stylish but not overdone.  These styles are perfect for achieving that perfect balance of chic and effortlessness.  Plus, most of them look even better if they are a little messy.  I love that!

Well, I hope this post inspires you to try one of these fabulous hairdos. It's amazing how a simple hairstyle can boost your confidence and bring sexy back....but don't take my word for it, try it and see for yourself.

Everything's Coming Up Roses

I love romance and though it may be a little cliche, to me, nothing says romance better than red roses.  I am getting ready to redecorate my bedroom and I fell in love with red rose pieces all over again. It is amazing how a rose here or there can change the feeling of a room. But what makes the red rose so sexy......why are they so intoxicating to the senses?  Well, as I have an inquiring mind, I did a little digging.  This is what I found.

The Red Rose not only carries more meaning than many other color roses, it is also one of the most universal of all symbols. The long history of the red rose makes it very significant. From being represented in countless works of Art to classical paintings, poetry, music and media the rose has endured. Not only throughout history but across many cultures and religions as well. The mystique of the red rose has been a source of immeasurable inspiration for many throughout the ages. However, it is as the symbol for love that the red rose is most commonly recognized.

The modern red rose we are now familiar with was introduced to Europe from China in the 1800's. The meanings associated with them however, can be traced back many centuries, even to some of the earliest societies.  In Greek and Roman mythology the red rose was closely tied to the goddess of love. Many early cultures used red roses to decorate marriage ceremonies and they were often a part of traditional wedding attire. Through this practice, the red rose became known as a symbol for love and fidelity. As the tradition of exchanging roses and other flowers as gifts of affection came into prevalence, the red rose naturally became the flower of choice for sending the strongest message of love. This is a tradition that has endured to the present day.

Now, who am I to mess with that.......I just can't wait to add some of these beautiful flowers to my decor.  Long live the rose!

The Power and Glory of The Maxi Skirt

Believe it or not this post was inspired by the hubs.  Every time I wear this look he loves it and can't take his eyes of me and I love that.  Maxi skirts are sassy, modest, elegant and so very feminine.  And depending on how you style them, they can be sexy too.  Also, they transition well from Summer to Winter so it's a win, win situation all around. Hello!

When I say long/maxi skirt, I am not talking about pilgrim-esque fashion or "Anne get your gun" look-a-like garments. I am talking about "work it, bring it, throw it down style" that any woman would love to rock. Though, if you can pull of the "Anne" look, I have mad respect for you.  After all, it takes real confidence to go against the grain. I discovered that personally when I wore my "Lucille Ball" hoop skirt..........but hey, that's a whole other story.

Bottom line is, long skirts are very smart buys.  They are ultra chic and versatile in both style and fabric choices which makes them able to go from casual to dressy in a snap. That is my absolute favorite thing about these skirts.

My appreciation for the maxi skirt began a long time ago at a wedding ceremony.  I had worn a long gray skirt with a sequined silver top, stilettos and belted sash at the waist.  All day long people wanted to know where I had purchased my gorgeous dress.  Of course it was not a dress but it looked like a really exclusive designer gown........minus the price tag.  Later that evening I wore the same gray skirt with flats, chunky jewelry and a tank top and viola!  One chic casual outfit if I must say so myself.  Such is the versatility of the long skirt.

I enjoy wearing my maxi skirts in Winter with boots and when it's really cold outside I just add some tights underneath.
So comfortable.
So effortless.
So chic.
Check out these beauties and if you don't have a maxi skirt already I see one in your future.  Real soon.

Joy To The World!

Christmas is by far my favorite holiday.  There is a wonder, grace and beauty about this season more than any other.......and there is a joy that is  truly as undeniable as it is infectious.

One of my absolute favorite things about Christmas though, is the nativity scenes and vintage paintings depicting the birth of Christ. Although these are steadily being replaced by more commercialized or "politically correct art", this is what warms my heart and makes me feel like it's Christ-mas.

So without further ado, here are some of the paintings and nativity scenes I am in love with at the moment, enjoy!

Bling It On!

They say diamonds are a girl's best friend, but truth be told, we simply love bling!  Rhinestones.  Sequins. Gold. Platinum. Glitter.  Semi-precious and precious stones....

We love to get our shine on!

This time of year more than any other season, bling is not only appropriate but oh so welcome!  You can jazz up your jeans and tees with a sparkly necklace or add a handbag with some sparkle and pizzazz.  It's truly amazing how just by simply adding a little bling here and there you can totally change the look and feel of an outfit.

I personally hoard love skinny sparkly belts. Maybe a little bit too much but hey, isn't it about how the belts make me feel inside?  And let me tell you, I feel all kinds of happy and fierce when I wear them.  I do.  So, do I see more sparkly belts in my future?  A-b-s-o-l-u-t-e-l-y!

Now before I go, I have to mention that bling is one of those things that perhaps a warning should  accompany. Something like "Beware, too much bling = tacky" or "Warning: Too much bling = pimp look-a-like" But, since there is no such warning yet, let's just say, you've gone too far when you are wearing "bling" on your teeth. We've all seen it, unfortunately. Not pretty.  We all know that too much of anything, is well.....just too much.   One or two pieces of glittery/shiny accessories is enough to add interest to any ensemble.

So ladies, lets get our bling on this Christmas.  Why?  Cause it's all kinds of fabulous!
