Save A buck or Two - Easy File Cabinet Makeovers
How many time have you stared at that old crusty file cabinet and would have physically thrown it outside...if you could lift it? Well, after today, whenever you look at that cabinet it will be in awe. I've got something for ya! These easy makeovers will not only be a snap to do but they will brighten up your space and bring some style to your organizing.
As you know, file cabinets are very sturdy, durable and very inexpensive. That is, if you buy a used one. You can find them just about anywhere and everywhere, at thrift stores, garage sales, craigslist....perhaps forgotten in your own basement. And many of us do. A lot of these pieces are metal and they rust after a while so as soon as the rust starts to show they are put out to the curb or sold very cheaply. But hey, this is good news for you! Don't let a little rust scare you from seizing or retaining a potentially fabulous piece of furniture.
Here are some easy makeovers/tutorials you can use to transform a drab looking file cabinet. Are you ready? Okay, let's do this!

Everything's Coming Up Roses
I love romance and though it may be a little cliche, to me, nothing says romance better than red roses. I am getting ready to redecorate my bedroom and I fell in love with red rose pieces all over again. It is amazing how a rose here or there can change the feeling of a room. But what makes the red rose so sexy......why are they so intoxicating to the senses? Well, as I have an inquiring mind, I did a little digging. This is what I found.
The modern red rose we are now familiar with was introduced to Europe from China in the 1800's. The meanings associated with them however, can be traced back many centuries, even to some of the earliest societies. In Greek and Roman mythology the red rose was closely tied to the goddess of love. Many early cultures used red roses to decorate marriage ceremonies and they were often a part of traditional wedding attire. Through this practice, the red rose became known as a symbol for love and fidelity. As the tradition of exchanging roses and other flowers as gifts of affection came into prevalence, the red rose naturally became the flower of choice for sending the strongest message of love. This is a tradition that has endured to the present day.
Now, who am I to mess with that.......I just can't wait to add some of these beautiful flowers to my decor. Long live the rose!

Drab To Fab - Old Dresser Makeover
Here are a few ways to put new life into old beat up dressers.
PAINT IT!
As a artist, whenever I get a chance to use my creativity for something practical it makes me all sorts of happy. So, when I saw this gorgeous redone dresser by go.tipjunkie I just knew I had make one of my own. It is hand painted, the dresser was painted white then the branches was added in acrylic. The birds however were cut out images that was decoupaged unto the dresser. How smart is that...hand painted furniture like this cost thousands.
I adore the color on this piece from migonishome So fresh, romantic and glamorous. All that from a can of paint.
Who wouldn't want a piece like this, the color is delicious!
And check out this stunning piece, could you believe it once looked like the picture below?
Dark brown paint and metal studs from Walmart transformed this ugly duckling into a swan.

WALLPAPER IT!
By far the easiest technique to do, wall paper is instant gratification. Find a tutorial here on this process.
ADD SOME BLING!
In the decorating world, mirrors and crystal chandeliers = BLING. If you are a little more adventurous like I am, add mirrors to your dresser. Just measure and have them cut for you. After that, all you have to do is glue them on and have your husband/hubby or some one handy to drill holes for your draw pulls......and viola! Not bad for a piece of furniture that you are gonna love! It sure beats spending $2,000 on a ready made mirrored dresser. This one looks fantastic for less than $50.00. Cha- ching!
Well, there you have it. I hope this post makes you think twice before you toss that old dresser to the curb. It may be a diamond in the rough.

Get Your Shine On With Chandeliers
Hall of mirrors (palace of Versailles)
There is nothing more glamorous or opulent than a beautiful chandelier. And if there was any doubt about that, I refer you to pictures one and two in this post. And I rest my case. If a chandelier is in a room, guess what everyone will be admiring? The chandelier. They are bold, unapologetically amazing and drop dead gorgeous!
Chandeliers usually are quite expensive so while many of us want one, due to the hefty price tag, it will most probably remain on our wish list. It's a whole new day as far as options are concerned though. From reproductions to purchasing used pieces, you now have many choices. It is finally possible to have the chandelier of your dreams without sacrificing your budget. And here are a few places where you may find chandeliers at a fraction of the price. It requires a little tenacity and patience but it is so worth the time.
1. Check out your local thrift store/s
2. Garage Sales
3. Etsy
4. Craigs List
5. lampsplus.
And there you have it lovelies, another one of my decor infatuations. Hope this inspires you to consider chandeliers in your decorating........you won't be disappointed. Ever.
