Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas!

Hello Lovelies, wishing you the most joyous, beautiful, awesome Christmas you've ever had! May your day be filled with three of the most important "F" words.

......................FOOD . FAMILYFRIENDS........................

Speaking of friends please show some love for this exquisite piece of Art created by a friend and fellow Artist. He took classic images and added his own spin on them, pretty clever don't you think?  You can check out more of his work, Strider Raven at monstersago-go.blogspot.com

Tis The Season for Christmas Throw Pillows!

Tis the season to be Jolly, and let me tell you, throw pillows instantly add that festive sparkle that we all enjoy!  It is amazing how something so simple can add so much.

One of the things I enjoy most about throw pillows is the versatility of design.  From embroidering to hand painted and printed, the sky is the limit.  You can 'DIY" it or buy it, it is up to you.  I personally love to mix both......but then again I am a craft head. :)

honestly I got to browsing these beauties and I could not stop.  Like seriously, everyone was so whimsical, elegant or cute. Each had it's own vibe and style.  There is something for everyone.

And so, if you like me are running out of time with your decorating, trust me, these lovely pillows will totally help you out.  Check them out and envision them in your space....oops, am guessing you already did.

Happy decorating!

I love this one, what a neat idea. Looks super comfy too.

C'mon! You can NEVER have to much glitter at Christmas time.

So sweet and feminine.

Easy Peasy DIY Christmas Ornaments!

Hi lovelies, the spirit of Christmas has me in a bear hug and wont let me go.  Hey, am not complaining though,  I love Christmas!  I found these cute bird ornaments on delphinepress and I am so excited to make them.  Don't ask me why but I am fixed on a bird theme for my Christmas tree this season. These ornaments are so darn cute!  I just love the mix of colors and how easy they are to do.  I found a bird template below that really made cutting these out a snap.  The template is a little different from the examples here since they have wings but the overall feel is the same.

Hopefully my tree will look a little like this....What do you think?

Christmas Tree Inspiration

If there is one season that makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside, that would be Christmas time.  Every year during the yule tide season, I become a kid again.  I love the food, the fragrant smell of pine everywhere, the Christmas carols...well most of them, and the way everyone seems to be in a better mood.  I especially love the many different ways people decorate their Christmas trees.

Every year the trees seem to be more creative and even more fabulous than before.  Check out these trees from trendytree and I dare you to not be inspired!

Imperfectly Perfect

As Paula Dean would say, hey Y'all (in my best Southern drawl impression.....which is pretty bad).  How was Christmas?  Hope you had a blast, hope your family didn't drive you mad.  Okay, I know, too soon.

Well, Christmas for me was quiet and relaxing which gave me the opportunity to do what I love best.  Craft!  I had a ball I must say and I learned a lot.

I am a relentless nit-picker perfectionist when it comes to my own work and while that has it's benefits, it also comes with drawbacks as well.  Last weekend I had a mini-melt down.  I was experimenting with new materials and everything seemed to be going well then all of a sudden I realized why I was not quite satisfied with the piece.  I was playing it too safe.  I was afraid I would mess it up. Eureka! Then, my lightening fast mind reflected (5 minutes later) on all the pieces I did that I loved and got rave reviews for, most of them already sold.  They had spunk, style, daring, and in your face swag!  Why? Well, because I had thrown caution to the winds.  And when I did, my work took on a life of their own, they became something better than perfect. They became expressive......people felt something when they saw it. And that is what I want most of all.

So with this being said, it's on like donkey kong!  Expect to see this new attitude manifested in my blog.  This is a life lesson that is not just about my Art, it encompasses everything and I couldn't be happier to see where this takes me.  From now on am holding nothing back.  You may be shocked, inspired, confused, amazed or even motivated to pray for my sanity but I promise you, you won't be bored!

Joy To The World!

Christmas is by far my favorite holiday.  There is a wonder, grace and beauty about this season more than any other.......and there is a joy that is  truly as undeniable as it is infectious.

One of my absolute favorite things about Christmas though, is the nativity scenes and vintage paintings depicting the birth of Christ. Although these are steadily being replaced by more commercialized or "politically correct art", this is what warms my heart and makes me feel like it's Christ-mas.

So without further ado, here are some of the paintings and nativity scenes I am in love with at the moment, enjoy!

Get Into The Spirit Of Fall With Wreaths!

It's amazing how something as simple as a wreath can transform a home and make you feel warm inside at the same time.  Okay, well at least that's what wreaths do for me, especially fall and Christmas wreaths.  There is nothing like a wreath to add instant nostalgia, warmth and seasonal cheer.  Though I personally prefer all natural wreaths like the ones featured in this post, I appreciate them in all styles and mediums. Bring it on!

After such a grueling week with my dad suffering a health crisis, I really needed to relax and just enjoy being surrounded by beautiful things.  Making one of these gorgeous wreaths was a perfect distraction.  My wreath is not quite finished yet but it is coming along and it will be beautiful when it is done.  The good things about it is, it is made from dried natural materials so I can keep it for quite a while.  I decided to add cinnamon sticks to mine so could you imagine how great this will smell....   Well, without further ado, here are some wreath ideas I just had to share with you.  You just can't look at these and not smile or feel happy.  Am not kidding.

Now, don't you feel happier?  I bet you do!
