Oh Happy Day!

If you have been following my blog for a little while you would know that I am totally obsessed with tapestry. I talked about it here.  Honestly though, I talk about it all the time.

I have been looking for that special piece...you know, the one.   It has just the right colors, theme and size.  It is very much like finding a good man, hard to do but when you do, it is pure magic!

Well, here is my baby.  Found it!  Oh happy day!

It took me many months of searching which goes to prove that diligence is always rewarded at the end of the day.  I will be using this as a focal point in my bedroom.  Yay me!

Next up is a chenille spread in a beautiful shade of light teal/Seafoam green.  Am siked, I will post it here when I find it. Fingers crossed.

Have a beautiful weekend lovelies!

D.I.Y Headboards Gone Wild!

It is no secret that I am a certified D.I.Y fanatic.  No delusions here, am owning it!  Show me a "how to" project and my happy quotient goes way up.  Don't know why that is but hey, thats how the good Lord wired me.

One of my favorite things to experiment with is headboards.  It is such a splendid opportunity to unleash your creativity and infuse your own personality into your bedroom.  And this my friend is what makes your home uniquely yours so go for it!

Creating A new head board could be as simple as draping fabric over your old one or it could be so complex that it may take many months, even years to complete.  The great thing about it is, you decide what you want.

I have a queen bed that needs a head board so of course I decided to make my own.  I found so many beautiful options.....    These are my favorites so far.  What do you think?

Decorative fabric

Salvage wood

A paint job and a strategically placed mirror

A large framed piece of Art

Salvage doors

Antique mirror

Burlap

Multiple framed photos

And finally tapestry.

This is going to be so hard to choose but since these are all so gorgeous, I cant go wrong with any of them.  Well, am of to marinate on my choices but I will post a picture of my new head board once I decide and "git er done!"  Cherio!

Francais Anyone?

Over the last few months, I've found myself gazing longingly through my rose colored glasses at French chateaus, furniture and tapestry much like the ones in this post.  Now, it took me a long time to figure out how someone who loves clean lines and uncomplicated design could be so infatuated with French design.  The answer to this is, I have no clue.  Its funny but honestly at this point I have to agree that opposites do attract.  One of the things I discovered though is that French design is so vast as far as the periods and styles of design. For instance, some of the French Provencial furniture combines clean lines and elaborate design so I totally love this style.  On the other hand French Rococo is very ornate and dramatic so you have to really like this style to be able to live with it everyday.  Over all I think French design is the stuff! Well, don't take my word for it, check it out.
