The Little Black Dress - A Girl's Best Friend

I saw this quote by Karl Lagerfeld and I could'nt agree more.  Every woman needs that perfect little black dress in her wardrobe. Whether you are going to a semi formal, black tie event, or just on a hot date, a black cocktail dress is always the right choice.  Here are a few reasons why the LBD is your best friend.

1.  It is a classic so you never have to worry about it being out of style/dated.

2.  It is effortless style that can easily be dressed up or down.

3.  The LBD is figure friendly, chic and sexy!

4. And finally my personal favorite.  This dress is versatile.  Add a jacket, boots or a scarf and you have a totally different outfit

5. Not to mention there are so many styles to choose from.......

And there you have it.  If you don't have a little black dress, get thee to the nearest store and buy one!  Trust me, the LBD is worth it's weight in gold.

What I learned from Katherine Hepburn

Katharine Hepburn is one of my favorite style icons.....ever.  She was classically beautiful, independent, feisty, stylish and a trend setter. Katherine wore pants before it was fashionable or feminine.  She also refused to wear makeup and never allowed herself to become the stereotypical "female image" of her time.  She loved wearing pearls, but she was just as comfortable and chic in safari wear.  Despite being outspoken or maybe because of it, Katherine was an inspiration to many American designers, especially for sportswear.  Her modern sensibilities, effortless grace and style makes her a true style icon.

A trail blazer,

quintessential

fashionista, and inspiration to us all,

Katherine, I salute you.

What I learned from Katherine Hepburn:

. High-necked blouses and shirts can be feminine and sexy with the right accessories
. A great pair of pants is tres chic! Add some flavor with a generous helping of your
own  style and you've got a winner!
. You can never go wrong with pearls............Try them in different colors, and styles
. Having amazing cheekbones and genetics is like winning the lottery.....seriously.
Katherine had them, but if you don't, work what you have with flattering hairstyles and
cosmetics that enhance your natural beauty
. Get your swag on!  Nothing looks better on you than self confidence

Most Memorable Iconic Wedding Dresses

Last Friday I woke up at 5:00 in the am, bleary eyed but excited to watch history in the making once again.  This would be the second royal wedding I would witness since princess Diana's wedding in 1981.  Although I had not been following any of the hype and media drama that preceded the event, I knew that I just couldn't miss seeing prince William and Kate Middleton's wedding when the day finally came.

For me having grown up in the English culture, I wanted to be a part of the moment. Not to mention the fact that I am a helpless romantic and I love a good wedding anyway.  Where else can you get fashion, glamour and romance in one sitting?   I was intrigued to say the least.

The wedding did not disappoint.   I was floored by the dress, it was exquisite!  And the bride, Katherine Middleton couldn't have been more beautiful and graceful.  The best part about it is how she made it all look so effortless.  They called her a "commoner" prior to her becoming a princess, but there is nothing common about this woman.  She is truly a class act.

After watching the wedding I couldn't get that dress out my head.  To get my fix appease myself I compiled pictures of the most memorable iconic wedding dresses to date. Grace Kelly's is my absolute all time favorite. Catherine Middleton's is now second on my list.

And the nominees for most memorable, iconic wedding dresses are.....
