A little "Cray Cray " In my Life

Let me just say how happy I am that fashion has lost it's ever lovin mind!  And there is only one word for it.  Fabulous!  It is about time! The neon wearin, acid wash color explosion with shoulder pads is here!  Again.   It is taking me back to the 80's and I love it.  As someone who grew up during this era this is so nostalgic and a well needed breath of fresh air.

How long this will last, who knows?.....but am enjoying every minute it!

Decoding The Smoky Eye - Ultra Easy Tutorials

There is nothing more captivating and sexy than a well done smoky eye. And whenever you achieve the perfect smoked look you know it. Makes you want to do two snaps in Z formation! Just sayin.

The Smokey eye look is perfect for parties or for formal occasions.  It all depends on the colors used to create the look.  There are so many different color variations you can go with like: gray tones, plum tones, green tones, lavender tones, red tones, blue tones or really dramatic combinations like black and red black and dark blue. The best idea is to Choose the color according to the time you are wearing it. Lighter colors work wonderfully for daytime and darker colors are excellent for night time looks.

Here is a very simple how-to in six easy steps.

And that my friends is as complicated as it is going to get on this blog....because if you are anything like me, I DO NOT like too many words in my instructions.  Too many words and my brain screams abort! abort!, overload! overload!   Ha ha, sad but true.

And so, I bring to you my hand picked selection of simple pictorial based smoky eye tutorials.    Tutorials that we all can actually follow and use.    Enjoy!

I really like this look. Very sultry and perfect for a night out on the town.

These colors really bring the drama.  I cannot wait to try this! I love the touch of gold.

You have to be bold to rock this look but hey...every girl have a little of that within. Some of us just a bit more than others.

This is a great toned down version of this look.  Great for day or night.

So ladies, I hope this inspires you to get your smoky eye on!

Ready Or Not Here Comes Winter...

Old man Winter and I have a love hate relationship.  I really like him on Christmas day, Christmas eve and new years day but honestly not so much the rest of the time.  Why? It's too blasted cold!  At least too cold for a Caribbean girl like me.  This year though I am determined to enjoy it without complaining.  I have a plan.  It's real simple, soft and comes in many colors.

WOOL TIGHTS.

Take that old man winter, it's on.  Stylish and toasty warm....yeah baby!

What's your favorite tip/item of clothing for braving the cold?

Simple Pleasures

 Art and crafts excites me....

It's the only activity that allows me to both lose and find myself at the same time...

And the cares of this world?..............Well, they just fade away.

The whole world seems to be "on pause"

Like 5:00pm.........already????  Whew...where did the time go?....

When I create, I am the truest and highest expression of myself.........and my creator.

A better and more beautiful person on the inside.  Where it matters.

So, to me creating is like a cool drink of water on a very hot day.

 Refreshing.

 Necessary.

To be savored and enjoyed.  Thoroughly.

What are you passionate about?.........
 What makes you happy?

For The Love of Abstract Art

michelle adams
Hello my lovelies, I hope you are having a great weekend!  And if you're not, this will put a smile on your face.  I promise.  Even if you are not a fan of abstract art like I am, these pieces just have a beauty and life of their own that just makes you feel something.  Even if that something is confusion......like  "what the heck is that?"  You will feel something.

Rue

I have always wondered about abstract Art.  At first I could not appreciate it the way I do now.  I guess I thought that ANYONE could do it, so really as far as I was concerned there wasn't much skill involved.  I was so wrong.

Abstract art is really one of the purest forms of Art.  There are no rules just you, and what you put on the canvas/paper. There is nothing literal to hide behind....nothing to distract from your composition. Nothing. Either it works or it doesn't.  Great abstraction painters are succesful at conveying moods and emotive qualities without painting anything familiar like a face or an animal.....they know balance scale and how to manipulate tonal values and textures.  In other words these people are on their game!  Perhaps they are on a spiritual/emotional plane that we only get to visit occasionally through their art.  How else can we explain Jackson Pollock?  There is definitely a method to the madness.

I have mad respect for all abstract painters now.  Why?  Well, of course I tried painting my own abstract painting. Trust me, it's not nearly as easy as it looks.  Here is my hair pulling 6 hour ordeal earnest attempt at this, it did not turn out anything like I envisioned but hey, I tried and I learned an invaluable lesson in the process.  Thou Shall not judge.  Amen.

If I accomplish anything at all with this post I would like that something to be a thank you to all the Abstract painters out there creating Art that keeps us inspired, challenged, and in love with your work! You guys rock!

Here are some of my favorites.

Bird Powered Fashion & Decor Ideas

One of my dearest and best friends is hopelessly head over heels in love with birds.  She is so enthralled will them that every time I see a bird or anything pertaining to a bird I think of her. Over the last ten years of our friendship I myself have developed an even deeper appreciation for our feathered friends because of my friend Pauline.  She was right, birds are amazing.

From Fashion and Art to Science and Technology, birds have been an important source of inspiration for many centuries.  And since there are so many different types of birds and color variations, its easy to see why people all over the world are so fascinated by them.

Whether its a piece of Art, a bird's nest, or even a bird inspired color like robin's egg blue, adding a bird related piece/motif is a great way to bring a little bit of the outdoors inside.  Also, its simply gorgeous and a wonderful way to add texture and a pop of color to your decor. So, if someone gives you "the bird" in the future, don't get so offended......after all birds are fabulous!
