A Little Bit A FarmHouse In My Lifeeeeeee!!!

I made this from twigs and shells.  These blooms will never wither!!! :)

I really don't understand what is happening with me but man, am I making things these days!!!! My crafting energy is through the roof.  In the last two weeks I have tiled a table, a vanity, made bracelets, necklaces, a floral arrangement, A farmhouse graphic sign, a large abstract Art, designed numerous prints and now I am working on hand painted coasters.  The artistic force has been strong with this one lately!!!

So without much ado here are some of the goodies these hands lovingly forged....And by the way, I have been really feeling modern farmhouse design so these for the most part inspired by that style.

My first attempt at a Farmhouse hand painted wall hanging......I really like how it turned out. :) I just grabbed a piece of left over wood from my husband's stash and stained it with black liquid shoe polish/stain. Say what?? Yes, I did. It worked like a charm, plus it has an applicator for easy application.  Why did I use shoe polish instead? Well, it allowed some of the wood to show through, it dried very fast, is a permanent stain and did I say how easy it was to do? lol. It was.

Aren't these gorg???!!! My brother-in-law gifted these lovely sea fans to me and the blue tiled table is the one I mentioned above. I tiled it but have not grouted it yet.  I had so much fun going mad Max on those tiles with a hammer.  Who knew!!!

The Abstract painting shown here only took me about 30 minutes to paint but it is so light and airy in the space. Perfect for the area where it now resides.  Can't wait to paint another.  I like the challenge of painting without thinking of a specific image.  So freeing!!

Finally the jewelry.  I like to recycle beads and pendants and I also love incorporating nature into my pieces...hence the lovely tamarind seeds in the bracelets and the reclaimed wooden beads.  I also used recycled glass beads.  That seafoam green color gets me every time.  It's  hands down my fav.

Well, that is all for now but rest assured, lots more to come.  I hope this inspires you to go a little  craft crazy yourself.  You never know what you can create.

Yes, long nails are beautiful but short nail are fabulous too!

Hats - Keep Cool, Look Smokin Hot!

One of my favorite go to accessories when I want to amp it up a bit is a hat.  They are so much fun! And cool. And always in style.

What I love best is the variety of styles you get to choose from.  Let me tell you, it is endless.  The only downside is, if you are someone like me who likes a different look based on how am feeling from day to day...well let's just say you can go cray cray get carried away shopping with so many options available.

And so with warning shot fired, check out my favorite style hats at your own risk.

The newsboy style cap is an absolute must for a fashionista.  They are very versatile and can be worn with either a suit or with a t-shirt and jeans. Most of all, these hats are stylish, classic and never disappoints. And, they are great in hot or cold weather so, either way you win!

The difference between a Newsboy cap and a Flat cap
The news boy cap is very similar to a flat style cap which as it sounds is more flat, has a snap enclosure at the front and is less rounded than the newsboy cap.  Choosing between the two really depends on your personal taste or preference, but most people refer to both styles as newsboy caps.

If you are looking for a classic style hat that is chic and sophisticated the Fedora is the perfect choice for you! There are many different styles and colors to choose from. From the super dramatic accented with feathers or blinged out, to the very streamlined and simple.
These hats look awesome with formal attire, but they also work just as well with casual looks. The fedora is worth is weight in gold and adds so much to a wardrobe.  I can tell you from experience, you cannot go wrong with one of these hats.
TIP: Try on many hats until you find one that that compliments your face structure and skin tone and you will have years of great fashion moments in this hat, not to mention, lots of wonderful compliments...

Baseball caps are not for everyone, but for those of us who like them, these caps can be very fashionable. It is all about the styling. I love infusing femininity into my outfit when I wear one of these. For example, if you wear a baseball hat, wear heels, lipstick, a fitted blouse/skirt, a pony tail or your hair down to balance the masculine energy of the hat. Rihanna here is killing this look!.......and that's what am talkin about!

Finally, the Military style cap.  I have a very soft spot for men in uniform and one of my favorite colors is army green so you have to excuse me if am somewhat biased here.  Every time I put on my army cap I feel like I could kick some serious booty!  These caps make me feel like a baddddddd "shut your mouth" girl!
In the pic above, Rihanna is working this look!  You can too. If are not as brave just pair yours with jeans, a plain or cute tee and sandals or heels. Done!
Tip: The trick is not to wear so much camouflage that you look like you are going to war.  Not a good look.  When it comes to this look, a little camouflage goes a looooooong way...
Well, I hope this post encourages you to try one or a couple of these hat styles.  If you do, I would love to hear about it!

Unapologetic Selfies & Some African DIY Style!

Everybody who knows me know that I am a craft junkie.  If I go more than a week without creating something I get the shakes, involuntary twitches, and spasms.   Basically,  my body began to experience craft withdrawals.

Yes, seriously I need help.

So this week, I give you my African inspired earrings. They are my latest creation and my precioussss.....(In my best Smeagol voice from Lord of the Rings)

I don't have a name for them just yet but they are available on my etsy shop, Beautyandthegreen.etsy.com.

If you have any ideas for what I should call them help a sista out!

In The Arms Of The Angel

Today with a broken heart and tearful eyes I saw the horror that unfolded in Connecticut on the news. Twenty beautiful little angels were taken from us at the hands of a mad man. As a mom, I cannot even begin to describe the pain of something like this, there are no words.  I am praying for all of the parents and people of Newtown Connecticut.  May God bless and keep you, and may he bring you much needed comfort.

Gingham......This check will never bounce

There is something about Gingham that is so sweet and nostalgic that you just fall in love with it.  And trust me, once you buy a piece of this fabric, you'll want it in every color.

Now, I know that this look is not easy to pull of but if done right, gingham can be very chic and even trendy.  Its all a matter of how you accessorize and style it.

Here's some beautiful gingham fashion and decor pieces that I really like, enjoy!

Gingham is a great way to introduce pattern to your wardrobe or decor.  It is a true classic and because of its neutral two color palette, it is easy to integrate into both your closet and decor.  Gingham is very reasonable and versatile.  It has been around since the 17th century and I would venture to say, its "here for the long haul."

One of my favorite things about this fabric is that it is so light and airy, which makes it perfect for Spring and Summer.

The first lady in a beautiful gingham skirt.

I love this whole look, the shorts are uber stylish!

How ingenious is this.  Use gingham fabric to cover your head board and sew some tiebacks at the side (could be ribbon if you choose) and viola!, you have a new look! What's really great about this is, you can swap out the fabric whenever you like.  (please note: works best on rectangular and square head boards)

Just imagine this blouse with skinny jeans and heels.......

I absolutely adore this jacket.

This dress is all kinds of fabulous!

This blouse is on my list of things to purchase.

Even if you are not a gingham fan, its hard to resist this head board.  Its simply divine.

Lol, I think Dorothy was on to something.........dont you think?
