But Wait, There's More.......Snow In ATL

Well, Would-da-ya know more snow here.  In ATL.  Again.  A blizzard this time.  I guess old man Winter wants to go out with a bang.  What a drama queen!

Here are a few pics from the carnage.
The last one is the most recent.  It was taken a few hours after the storm ended.  Ahhhhhhhhhh, is that the sun?  Welcome back friend!

The ATL Blues

The excerpt below was nation wide news just days ago.  And it was all true.   Not one bit of it was hype or pumped up for dramatic effect.  This really happened.  I live here in ATL so I am still in  "what the heck!!!" mode.  They say a picture is worth more than a thousand words so here are a few pics to show you what I am talking about.  I shot most of them and a few are media sites.  I am not a snow hater but  it won't break my stride one bit if it disappears totally for a few years. Just sayin, I need some sun. At this point just the thought of Spring makes me light headed and giggly. Can. Not. Wait!

"Forecasters had warned of a freak Southern snowstorm, but schools and offices remained open Tuesday. Mass chaos and gridlock ensued when offices closed early and an exodus of midday commuters headed home.Less than 3 inches of snow brought the city to a freezing halt. Children camped out in schools or on buses. Hundreds of motorists were marooned for hours on highways and onramps; some abandoned their cars and walked home through the snow. Workers spent the night in their offices.

One woman delivered a baby inside a car stuck on a frozen highway, aided by her husband and a police officer. She named the girl Grace.
Georgia National Guard troops delivered military meals and water to stranded motorists. Other troops and police rescued children from schools and delivered them to firehouses and other sanctuaries. Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal said all students made it home safely by Wednesday.  But another hard freeze was predicted overnight."

Free At Last!

So I really tried soooooooo hard to put my big girl drawers on and not complain about the  snow storm that bombarded us here in Atlanta a week and a half ago. It left a lot of us sequestered in our houses and wreaked havoc with traffic, business and so much more.... but I tried to be optimistic since I had such a blast when it snowed on Christmas day!  After being in the house for a whole week though, I cannot express to you my level of happy, the snow-a-thon is finally over!  Am sure my son is even happier, being locked up in a house with a deranged claustrophobic person is not exactly a fun experience.

By day five of my imprisonment confinement, I could'nt take it anymore.  Despite being told not to leave the house, I decided to do it anyway.  Afterall, I was only going as far as the mailbox.  What the heck, this is Atlanta not Alaska!  Okay, so I carefully navigated my way to the mailbox crunching along through the white stuff and I was feeling pretty good about it until I stepped on something that felt like the equivalent of baby oil on glass.  Yes my friends, that would be black ice.  I went down like a sack of potatoes. Suddenly everything was in slow motion, I can even remember thinking as I went down, "Man, I sure hope the neighbors is not seeing this!"  Now I can tell the story with a smile but it was so very embarrassing at the time.  If there is any good in this at all though, it would be that I limped away with bruised pride and a sore right arm but no broken bones.  And next time I will listen to good cautionary advice.
Well, fast forward four days and I am finally able to resume my life as I knew it. Full mobility included!  Its amazing how you never appreciate the little things until they are taken away.  I am enjoying it all, especially the "non slip" trek to my mailbox.
