15 Awesome Backsplash Kitchen Ideas

Confession. This post was created out of utter confusion and if truth be told, the need to vent!

In 2 months or so, I will be redoing our kitchen, and so as I am a compulsive control freak I already chose everything from floor to ceiling as far as materials and colors go down to the most minute detail...that is except the backsplash.  Normally I am really good at making a decision and sticking to it but not this time.  I have flip flopped so many times now with various tile choices I could actually be worn on someones feet. But then who can blame me?

Materials for backsplashes are so extensive now.  They come in every style or material you can imagine, plus they now come in mixed materials like sea shells mixed with textured glass, mixed with copper and so much more variations.  The tiles are exquisite but more than that, the colors are swoon worthy.   What's a girl to do with so many fabulous choices!  Seriously.

So far I have narrowed it down to 4 choices in tiles.  That is as far as I got today. It was a valiant fight to get to this point in my selection so patting myself on the back.  Hopefully in a few days I can decide which is the winning tile selection...sweating as I think about that.  Feels like I am choosing a winner at a beauty pargeant. Sigh.

Those of you who are judging me right now, here is your opportunity to put yourself to the test. Check out these fabulous ideas and tiles and tell me, and you will see exactly what I mean. Good luck, and consider yourself warned!

Are You Ready For This!

About a month ago I on a whim entered a major gallery showing.  It was competition based so my sketches/ideas had to beat out numerous competitors to qualify. I sent the sketches and forgot about....that is until I got an email saying I had made the cut!  O. M. G!!!!

And so, just like that I had a life changing opportunity in my hands.  I was so happy to finally have a major platform to express my heart through something that I love so much.  Art.   But then, I starting looking at the formidable competitors and envisioning what they might be bringing to the table and the more I did that, the more nervous and apprehensive I got.  My ideas were not coming together properly and the ones I did like soon became "not good enough".  I was second guessing myself and it was getting me nowhere.

The back and forth and vacillation between excited and overwhelmed continued until my son put an end to it.  He looked me dead in the eye and informed me "you gat this mom!".......gave me a big hug and and walked off.  Well, turns out that was all I needed.  After that I had fire in my eyes.   No matter what happened I was going to create something amazing. Something I can be proud of.

The first piece I made took a whole day to make but it was a little off so I scrapped it and started over from scratch.  I did not let it get me down, I just knew I could do better....... and I will.  At the moment I am working on two of the three pieces required for the show and everything is coming together quite nicely.  I am started to get excited now because I can envision/see the final product......the finish line.  I will probably have a Steve Urkel moment at the end, like "Did I do that???!" but in a really good way.  I am going to make sure of that.

Well, back to work I go but I will be posting the pictures here when everything is finished.  Have a beautiful weekend everyone.

Hello World!!

Hello everyone, I am so excited!! This is my very first blog post and I couldn't be happier to meet new friends, learn and explore.

I am an Art addict/creative spirit and I have been this way since I could remember, lol, no complaints here. There is so much beauty in the world and in this blog we will discover some of them together. As an Artist I love to challenge myself to do things that are "out of the box". Here are a few pieces of some new beach glass mosaics I have been working on.... I love beach glass, who knew discarded glass overtime could be so beautiful.
